Welcome to the second issue of "Tell Me Later", that spirited little newsletter from your favourite band, Cove.
In this issue:
--------------
- Coveworld 2.0 goes live!
- CKUA needs your help
- End of an era
- A new beginning?
- Upcoming shows
* COVEWORLD 2.0 GOES LIVE!
Cove is pleased to announce the redesign of their website, located at
www.coveworld.net/cove! Yes, we finally got around to bringing it into
the new millennium...don't mind the construction dust, and please let
webmaster Matt (matt@coveworld.net) know what you think! The idea behind
the new site is simple: by reducing clutter, we've made a webpage that is
easier for you to get around and easier for us to keep up-to-date;
everyone wins! (And don't worry, the lineup and pictures sections haven't
disappeared, they're just taking a short break during final exams and
will be making their reappearance soon.) We'll be continually adding to
the site, so have a look around and let us know what you'd like to
see...and enjoy.
* CKUA NEEDS YOUR HELP
If you're from Alberta, you're probably aware that we're lucky to have
CKUA (94.9FM in Edmonton), one of the best radio stations in the entire
world. CKUA is currently a week into their biannual pledge/subscription
drive, and they need your help! Amazing radio isn't free, after
all...every bit helps, so pick up that phone and call the CKUA Pledge
line at 1-800-494-2582, or visit www.ckua.com. So, do we have a dark,
ulterior motive for telling you about this? You bet! CKUA happens to have
a copy of "Later" in their vast record library, and with a pledge of any
amount, you also get to make a musical request...wouldn't it be nice to
support a good cause *and* hear the strains of "Fuga" coming over the
airwaves?
* THE END OF AN ERA
Cove sadly announces the imminent departure of their bassist, the master
of funk himself, Bryan Palsat. Since he joined the group for "one
concert" on Canada Day, 1997, Bryan has been Cove's bastion of low-end
stability and groove. Unfortunately, his three great years with the band
are at an end, as his summer job this year is taking him to the distant
barrens of Winnipeg, Manitoba. But for all you Bryan Palsat fans (and we
know you're out there in screaming hordes), you have one LAST CHANCE to
catch the man himself in action! Our last gig with Bryan will be this
Thursday, April 20th, at O'Byrne's Irish pub. Come prepared with banners
and balloons, and join us in saying farewell to Mr. Palsat...
* A NEW BEGINNING?
There is, however, a silver lining to the dark cloud of bryan's
departure. Cove is lucky enough to have already found the services of a
new bassist, and the band will soon begin an intensive training schedule.
Who is this mystery man? We're going to keep you in suspense for a bit
longer, but unconfirmed rumours say his name is Dan. The ultra-curious
can catch the first glimpse of Cove's new, mystery master of lowdown at
Heights Tap House (St. Albert), May 13th. Stay tuned!
* UPCOMING SHOWS
Even though we've pretty much given them away, here are our two confirmed
shows for the next few weeks:
Thursday April 20: Cove at O'Byrne's Irish Pub, Whyte Avenue!
9PM, no cover.
Say farewell to the beloved Bryan Palsat and have a
good time while you're at it. The usual folk/rock
mayhem, dance contests, and CD giveaways shall ensue!
A bit of new material, too! Take a study break...
Friday, May 13: Height's Taphouse, St. Albert.
(Check the webpage soon for time, address and other
information)
Come support Cove in their St. Albert debut!
Down the road... more shows at O'Byrne's, as well as trips north and
south...as always, email aaron@coveworld.net if you
want to help bring Cove to a venue near you.
That's all for this issue of Tell Me Later...good luck on exams to all the students out there, and hope to hear from you soon!
Cheers,
-Matt and those four other Cove people
