This particular bird used to live in the aviary, but he escaped one night and was found the next day half dead. He had been attacked by an owl or other raptor, yet somehow managed to escape from that as well. He's missing all the feathers and most of the skin on the top of his head, but the skin is starting to regrow. Each week Dr. Alvarado comes by to weigh him and check up on him, and each week he brings a different kind of burn patch to stick on his head and see if it helps. The first two came off in about 5 minutes, but the last try stayed on for at least a day. We should make some sort of commercial, "Of these 5 brands of burn patch, only one can stay on a bird's head longer than five minutes. And it wasn't..."
