If Team Johnny has a leader, it is Watermelon Man. While he has been a part of the Team since it began, he didn't truly enter the spotlight until 1995, the year Team Johnny partipated in the creation of three "Untitled" movies. First known only as "Boy," Watermelon Man assumed his mysterious name and superheroic identity in Untitled II. The movies cast him as an unlikely hero, a crimefighter who is more Don Quixote than Captain Marvel. With his sidekick Mortimer, he lives as a dubious do-gooder combatting evil and solitude.

For Team Johnny, he is the spark that drives any creative endeavor, the idealistic and childlike force that lives for the next video, short story, or website. Hardly more than a boy himself, he likes kids and encourages them to follow his example. If he stopped to notice the children growing up around him, leaving him alone with his silly ideas, he might pay more attention to Captain Maturity.

But if he did that, Team Johnny would lose its heart and soul, the voice that insists life should be fun and that a great idea is the best thing in the world. Will Watermelon Man ever grow up? We can only hope he doesn't.
